A spitfire and healer

With this drawing I scanned the line work, cleaned it up, printed it out, and painted on the printout with water colors and gouache. That painted version was used in various layers in the final color piece. You can hardly see the paint in there, but it was fun to use mixed media. I think I'll play with it more in the future.
These are two playful characters I designed for a story of mine. She has a headstrong, spitfire personality and the frog guy is a chill healer and sage of sorts.
Let's see, on the auditory front, while painting this I was listening to the audio book version of "Fiasco" by Thomas E. Ricks, an interesting account of the conflict in Iraq.

"You see this?"

Another cafe' sketch playing with subtle color shifts. Was listening to an audio book about Abraham Lincoln.

Standin' Onna Stoop

This sketch was drawn in a cafe'. Experimenting with slight color shifts and minimal rendering. While coloring this I was listening to the BBC documentary "Power Of Art" and came away with the knowledge that Caravaggio was rather thuggish.
